AlertSentinel documentation
AlertSentinel notifies you about changes to the SharePoint lists and libraries you care about, in email and Microsoft Teams. Everything runs inside your own Microsoft 365 tenant.
1. Install AlertSentinel
An administrator finds AlertSentinel in your organization's App Catalog and installs it. This is a one-time step for the whole organization.
They will be asked to approve a small set of permissions so AlertSentinel can send notifications on your behalf. This also happens once, for the whole tenant.
2. Enable it on your site
- Go to the SharePoint site where you want to use AlertSentinel and open Site Contents.
- Select + New → App, and choose AlertSentinel.
Adding the app creates the AlertSentinel_Subscriptions list that records who wants to be notified about what.
3. Import the notification flows
The web part records subscriptions; three Power Automate flows do the actual notifying. Until they are imported and turned on, no notifications are sent — alerts can be created and will simply never fire.
This is the step most easily missed, and it has its own page: Importing the notification flows. Download the packages from your customer portal.
4. Add the My Alerts web part
- Edit any page on your site.
- Select + to add a web part and search for My Alerts.
The web part shows all of your active alerts in one place, so you can see at a glance what you are being notified about.
5. Create an alert
From any list or library:
- Right-click the item or folder you want to be notified about.
- Select Alert Sentinel, then Alert on This Item or Alert on This Folder.
- Choose how often you want to hear, and where.
Or use Create New Alert in the My Alerts web part, which offers the same options:
- Target list or library — which list to watch.
- Scope — the entire list, or a single item or folder.
- Notify me when — items are created, modified, or both.
- Frequency — Immediate (checked every 5 minutes), Daily digest (07:00 UTC), or Weekly digest (Monday 08:00 UTC).
- Send via — email, Teams chat, a Teams channel, or any combination.
Managing alerts
Each alert can be paused and resumed without deleting it, edited, or removed. The list shows its frequency, target, scope, when it last fired, and whether it is active or paused.
The web parts
My Alerts
Three tabs:
- My alerts — the alerts you created, with name, frequency, target list, scope, last fired time and status.
- Site alerts — alerts across the current site, for site owners.
- My Subscriptions — every alert you can access across the tenant, including which site it came from.
Filter by list or frequency, or search by alert name.
Dashboard
An administrator's overview of subscription activity across sites: how many alerts are active or paused, how many sites have subscriptions, and delivery failures over the last 7 days.
Site Alerts
Alerts belonging to the current site, for owners who need to see what the site as a whole is notifying on.
Getting help
Email support@arrioph.com. If a notification is not arriving, check the flow's run history first and say what it shows — that usually identifies the problem straight away. See Importing the notification flows for the common causes.
